Flight Layovers

Flight Layovers

Is your layover long enough to get through the airport?

Imagine getting off your plane at Gate 54 and having to connect at Gate 123...

Weeeeelll, let me tell you this: if you have a 45 min. - 1 hour layover YOU'RE NOT MAKING YOUR CONNECTING FLIGHT without running fast through the airport.

During your layover, you have to be able to get from the gate where your first flight came in, to the gate where your second flight leaves.

Sometimes this is as simple as walking a little ways down the hall. But other times it could mean a long walk, or even a ride on an airport tram, and switching terminals.

In bigger airports, getting from one end to the other could easily take 20 minutes or more, especially if you’re not familiar with the airport. Because baaaby - Chicago O'Hare Int. Airport (ORD), Chicago Midway Airport (MDW), Newark Liberty Int. Airport (EWR), Los Angeles Int. Airport (LAX), Orlando (MCO), Atlanta Hartsfield Int. Airport (ATL), Las Vegas, Las Vegas McCarran Int. Airport (LAS), New York, La Guardia Airport (LGA), etc..... This is just to name a few and I'm sure others can be added to the list. You will definitely sweat and get your workout on.

It's no joke and it's not for the weak and faint of hearts. Those that are ....will definitely need a wheelchair or transportation cart.

No shame here....because Vegas and Newark Airports ARE going to take you out.

Worse yet, some airports have different security check points for different sections of the airport, which means you might have to go through the security line again.

Don’t forget to leave yourself sufficient time for boarding the second flight. Boarding usually starts anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes before the actual flight time, and the doors close approximately 5 minutes before flight time. Once the doors have been closed, they WILL NOT re-open them.

More importantly, do your homework BEFORE you leave for your trips and vacations. Consider the health conditions of EVERYONE that is traveling with you and the luggage you have to carry, even though you're checking it under the plane.

Note: The shortest layover is not always the best option. Choose wisely.
